Is there and easy way to cut crown molding. How do you get the angles for the corners. Do you have to cut a 45degree angle along with another angle so your mitre saw will be set with two differnet angles to get the cut.
Also is there a good tool to use. I see on amazon that there are several not sure how they work.
I am fairly new at installing crown molding. I am doing crown in a small office with 125 deg. sloped ceiling and at the ridge it levels off 9" horizontally instead of coming to a point. I used crown blocks at the base of the slopes to eliminate transition pieces and simplify the project. I calculated all my angles for cutting but my problem is the length. The distance of the four piece that run the slope between the block and the ridge piece is 6′-6". I mark the distance on the top of the crown, then flip and reverse the piece so the top of the crown is resting on the miter saw base. Now my length mark is on the bottom & I cant line up my blade for a precision cut. How is this done?
I’ve got something to share with teens and all youtubers. This is a great corner tool for easy Christmas gifts and doing big jobs too. I’m adding to my collection of tools to show you more about woodworking.
I’m doing crown molding for a bathroom that is approx. 5×8 and ceiling is slightly sloped it raises from about 90′ on one 8′ wall to 94" on the other 8′ wall. How do i figure out these angles? Remember this is crown, not floor, so the molding will stick out from the wall at a 45 degree angle.
We are in the midst of a project to put up crown molding in one of our rooms. We purchased the molding AND the prefab inside and outside corners. I thought that cw was supposed to be "flush" even around corners. However, the prefab corners protrude beyond the crown molding pieces that converge at that corner. Believe me, we don’t want to rent special equipment and drive ourselves crazy with cutting the molding at the "right" angles for our walls and the molding. I’m OK to use the prefab corners, I just want to make sure that we aren’t doing something completely ridiculous. Any guidance would be much appreciated!!
How do you use caulking with crown molding – prefabricated corner block method?
I am trying to cut angles other than 45 degrees for both inside and outside corners with cove molding and I’m getting confused as to how adjust the placement of the wood on my chop saw.
